Dunmore East to Portally
The walk from Dunmore East to Portally offers spectacular views of Hook Head and the Hook peninsula and on a clear day the Saltee Islands off Kilmore Quay can be seen. You start your walk by heading west from Dunmore village and veer left behind a large block of apartments (former convent) follow the track and take a right past some holiday cottages and commence up some recently cut steps to the top of the cliffs. As you follow the path take time to admire the Hook peninsula and the famous Hook lighthouse. The trail from here to Portally is easy going with a few minor inclines and steps leading down to Portally cove.
